How things go

After 38 years of breeding, I would like to reflect on how things are going in Italy.

I have always heard breeders say that you only have to use controlled dogs that health comes first and that only after you can think about character and beauty. And what is the first thing they invite you to control? The dysplasia of the hip. But where are all these boxers that die or no longer walk for dysplasia?! The real health problems of the race are others. Let's think about the serious things! With the money we spend to solve a problem that there is, we could do more. For example, in the United States with 200€ do DNA checks that in Italy we can only dream of them!

You hear so many good speeches, but then you realize that people are still in the 80s! Let's say how things really are: the average Italian breeder only cares about the beautiful dog titled and his speeches about health and character are just talk.

In the breeds where you work well, a mountain costs the selling price of a puppy. Instead, in the Boxer everyone wants to spend little. And then there are those with you call breeders but that mate, without head or tail, with the dog of the neighbor just because it is free. Unqualifiable! And you call this enhancing the breed?!

How much does a complete check on a dog with health checks, exhibitions, breeding tests, work tests etc. etc.? Try to do the math. Remember that quality is obtained by investing!
