Tradition embraces the future
Translated from the Italian original.
We could call it the Italian Stockmann, Mrs. Luciana Bonetti of the historic breeding of David. Born in the immediate post-war period and recognized since 1947, she took her first steps in a pioneering era for Italian boxerism, of which she was protagonist with over 50 champions, including the unforgettable Pirro del David. Mrs. Bonetti recently visited the breeding of Casa Bartolini was able to compare with the current results of boxerism, expressing great interest and a little 'amazement for all the innovations that have occurred in recent decades.
In her time, Mrs. Bonetti recalls, the boxers had the floor in ground, there was certainly no room for delivery with cameras and balanced feed was a utopia: it was fixed with the homemade nuggets and the puppies had easy bone problems. Sometimes it happened that a puppy died still at 50 or 60 days without the breeder being able to explain the reason. In knowing the intern Elena, she expressed satisfaction for the course of degree in techniques of breeding recently institution, which then obviously was not there.
It was a different boxer than the first Italian boxerism: lower and longer nasal cane, strictly amputated, as it used then and Mrs. Bonetti smiled at the long tails of the boxers of the Bartolini house, who whipped her legs.
There were no times when white boxers were seen: the uses and beliefs wanted them to be discarded immediately as poorly-received boxers. Therefore, those at the Bartolini house were the first white puppies that could directly see and take hold. How many things changed! Today's boxer is no longer that of a time: taller, more intact, of three colors. How many possibilities and innovations in the method of raising!
Many today are able to change a knowledge, perhaps entirely sporadic, with Dr. Bosi, but Mrs. Luciana Bonetti can certainly boast a relationship of friendship and assiduous frequentation with the great boxerist and gave to the breeding some letters of a correspondence between them.
With surprise and bitterness he learned of the recent disagreements between the Boxer Club of Italy and the German Boxer Klub: then the collaboration with Germany was very alive and Dr. Bosi would certainly have biased these disagreements with the parent company.
David's blood lines continue in more recent genealogies, like the same of Bartolini's home that was born from subjects of David and that has developed in continuity with the historical breeding, updating the methods of breeding as the times progress.
With curiosity and sympathy Mrs. Bonetti compares herself to today's boxer, which is still the boxer. And while many in these times are in the throes to draw conclusions on how the historical boxer selectors would think it, as well as to make the Bosi and Stockman speak, putting in the mouth of the dead (we write it with respect) what they think, we can reasonably say that, if they were alive, today they would have a puppy of white boxer just like Mrs. Bonetti, whom we thank for the welcome visit to our kennel.
