Response to Pafundi and Menghini

Translated from the Italian original.

The letter of Dr. Pafundi and Mrs. Menghini deeply impressed me, both as a breeder and as a member of the BCI... and especially as a fan of the race. Unfortunately, I was hit in negative, and for many reasons: not least the fact that we speak of dogs  "all equal to Walt Disney's Pluto (missis) and above all intact, but  ungracious and unproud and elegant."

This means that a dog who presents himself in a "natural" way (since the tail gave him Mother Nature, and not man: and it is supposed to have given it to him with a purpose, since Nature, unlike man, does not create anything useless) loses pride and elegance: a thesis a little hard to support, since in nature elegance is the first thing that strikes the observer  of "any" animal species, from the insect to the great mammal.

When we see animals "dumb and ungracious".. especially dogs.. it is always the man we must "thank": because it is he who with his forced selection created subjects that in nature would be unable even just to survive. But this is not the main point, even if it is important point.

The thing that has indignated me more is that the article "Cronaca of an announced death" did not come out in a generic journal, in which anyone is free to express his opinion even in bright tones: he has appeared in the official magazine of the BCI, and therefore represents the official voice of the members of the same Club, especially since he is a signatory to the magazine itself, and also manager of the BCI.

Well, I support this is, on the one hand, a real abuse of the Club's information body, which cannot be allowed to express opinions on behalf of Members (this is what an official body does) without ever having asked the Members themselves to express an opinion. On the other hand, the BCI is giving a false and incorrect information, because it denies  that we must adapt to the Standard of race and denies that the Boxers with the tail are now... in fact, and not on the basis of "hearing to say".. outside Standard. Which means that they can no longer be exposed or sold in Germany, home of the race, unless they operate outside the laws in force.

These FACT DATA have not appeared either on the number 1 or on the number 2 of the magazine. The only article that talks about queues is the already mentioned "cronage of an announced death," in which one can see a possible position taken by the FCI in favor of countries that remain in favor of the cut. Actually the FCI up to this moment has given no sign of wanting to take positions of this type, even in respect of breeds that before the boxer have "subito" a revision of the Standard. Since everything is possible in the world, we cannot exclude that one beautiful morning the FCI wakes up and decides to let expose the dogs around the world with ears and tails amputated: but we cannot exclude the hypothesis that tomorrow morning they cast a nice methorite on Earth and destroy us all, supporters of the cut and not.

The fact is that normally the newspapers do NOT talk about the possibility of a meteorite falling: they talk instead of what really happens every day in the world. Why the official BCI magazine must continue to ignore reality, and to talk about what are currently only fantasies? Why does anyone calling the BCI asking for lights on the issue-code hears the answer "TALLY, TAGLIARE!" and is not even informed about the regulations already in place in Germany, and about the standard GIA' modified?

If the information were complete and comprehensive, everyone would be free to choose their own line of action: but this information "one-way" is not correct or is exhaustive. It is incomplete and tendentious and therefore risks only harming those who, in good faith, believe that they can blindly trust the word of their Club.
